December 18, 1978 when Kate Noelle Holmes was born, two months premature at four pounds. She was raised in Ohio, Toledo. Being the youngest in Holmes clan, completing the family of three other sisters and one brother, Katie was always the baby. She was baptized as a roman catholic, and attended at Christ the King Church. Her high school was the all-female Notre Dame Academy, her mother's alma mater. She acted in high school theater productions at St. John Jesuit, a nearby all-male high school. As a teenager, she began attending modeling school. When she was sixteen, her teacher invited her to a modeling competition with other girls from her class. She competed in International Modeling and Talent Association and by the end of that time, she won many awards. But she said she didn't want to model because it's wasn't challenging enough.

Katie went to Los Angeles to audition for movies when she was seventeen. Luckily, she was cast in the movie The Ice Storm, directed by Ang Lee. Her character was Libbet Casey, a rich New Yorker, who is pursued by two of the main characters. Ang Lee told The Blade, “Katie was cast because she had the perfect amount of innocence and worldliness that we needed for Libbets. I was taken by her wide open eyes. She really is a beautiful girl but there is also a lot of intelligence there and it shows.”

After her first movie, she began sending in audition tapes for pilot shows. And according to the Hollywood Reporter, Katie's audition “has become the stuff of legend”. She won the part of Joey Potter, bestfriend of the title character Dawson. No one even thought that it was weird that one of the female leads of the Dawson Creek would audition via Federal Exress.

Weeks after her relationship with chris Klein ended, Katie began dating actor Tom Cruise. When Tom appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, jumping on Winfrey's couch and vociferously declared his love for Katie. Early morning of June 17 atop Paris's Eiffel Tower, Tom proposed to Katie; and accepted it. Tom gave her an engagement ring, a five carat oval diamond set in rose gold and platinum in a vintage.

On April 18, 2006, the first anniversary of katie's first date with Tom, she gave birth at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California, to a daughter, Suri Cruise. The first photographs of the child appeared in the 2006 issue of Vanity Fair. After six months, the Katie and Tom were married at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy, in a Scientology ceremony attended by many Hollywood stars. The day after the ceremony, the couple left for a honeymoon in the Maldives.

Katie is one of the actress that are being idolized. Her parents described her as a mature lady with a good head on her shoulders. She's very talented and has a strong personality. A beatiful and intelligent woman. She describes herself into three words “honest, determined and imaginative.”
